Another suggestion: Devin Townsend - Ziltoid, The Omniscient. It is a one-man-album, unlike many of his other albums.
From Wikipedia:
"The album is a solo album, with all music written, mixed, produced and performed by Townsend. All drum tracks were produced with EZdrummer,[8] a software drum machine, using the Drumkit from Hell expansion.[9]"
So you basically have to add it to have something else than black metal on here ![](/images/smilies/lol.gif) (not saying that's your fault, there's way more one-man-bm out there than most metal genres)

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have a list (in Word) with all the suggested albums or albums I found myself for this list (and other lists as well). So I'll just add Devin Townsend to that list.
Oh, and yes you're right about one-man bands and BM. I'm already glad I have one gothic album on here. ![](/images/smilies/lol.gif) So the more variety the better, granted I like the music of course.

Consider it added. Finally added 5 albums again so as I promised also your suggestion. That album is a totally weird album by the way, I mean what the hell. ![](/images/smilies/what.gif) Kind of nerdy but also hilarious (and ridiculous), but you would know that of course. Maybe I got it wrong, but at the end of the album, does it turn out a guy at work just all imagined it? I got that idea anyway.

Yes, it sucks that it isn't on Youtube, Bandcamp and Grooveshark, which are the three places I mainly stream my music (aside from the music on my own computer of course).
I didn't like it but since many people seem to like it (you, Mr. Doctor, Joe etc.) I decided to add it anyway as this is a general list and not a representation of my own taste (my top 75 list is the best representation of my taste that is available). If I truly hate something I won't add it of course, but P.H.O.B.O.S. simply didn't (and probably still doesn't) appeal to me for some reason.

Indeed, the album is completely ridiculous, goofy, nerdy, hilarious and awesome. I love it. And yes at the end it turns out to be just a guy daydreaming or something, which makes sense because when I'm daydreaming I think of some weird shit too ![](/images/smilies/lol.gif)
By the way, seeing as you reached the end of the album I take it you enjoyed it? Or did it just not bother you?

Haha, glad I got it right then. Pretty damn funny album I'd say and kind of enjoyed it, but I'm not sure whether I'll revisit it or not. ![](/images/smilies/undecided.gif) It's not often that I'm in the mood for such a totally weird album, but who knows I might just spin it again soon.

I've never seen you talk about BDM before, so just as a joke I was going to post some BDM bands, but then I noticed you do actually have Shaun LaCanne's Putrid Pile. So now you need to check out Shawn Whitaker's Insidious Decrepancy, and Peter Hasselbrack's Bloodsoaked.

Ah, so that how you immediately link to the band page, didn't know that. ![](/images/smilies/tongue.gif) And you're right, I never talk about BDM at all since besides Nile I don't care for it at all, not my cup of tea. But I'm all for variety so having gothic (just Sirenia though), progressive and death metal (etc.) albums on this list increases the variety seeing as the vast majority on here is BM.
Thanks for the suggestions, but can you tell me which albums of those bands I need to add here, as I don't plan on checking 'em all out. Usually I just go for the highest rated album though.

Can't believe it took you this long to figure that out. ![](/images/smilies/lol.gif)
Honestly the only albums of theirs I'm really familiar with are their newest ones. Ran out of BDM steam before I got around to familiarizing their entire discogs. ![](/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Hey now, I never even bothered trying to figure it out. ![](/images/smilies/mad7.gif) Although figuring out how to put Youtube links here on MS took me a few minutes as that was quite tricky.
Their newest albums are the ones I'll add then, on the next update. Already guessed those are the "best" for this list.

Thanks for the suggestion (and +1). ![](/images/smilies/smiley.gif) Not familiar with that kind of style at all, so I can't promise anything, although this list is a general one as I said, so I'll probably add it even if it isn't entirely to my liking.

#Attention
I see you have Midnight Odyssey on here. Not sure if you are aware of Dis Pater's other two projects, which he recently cancelled, but check out Tempestuous Fall and The Crevices Below if you have not. They are both on MS now as well, so you can add them to this list of MS exclusives. And they each only have a single release, so not a whole lot of effort to look into and check out.

Well, on some of the album the guys don't do "everything". Like on the Sirenia (some vocals obviously) or the Windir (drums) but rather use session/guests... don't know if that counts as "one man" ![](/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
You might want to check Wigrid. German one man DBM, very good stuff.
On a side note, seriously diggin' that Netra album posted by Joe... really bizarre, you feel the urban decay lingering all through it.... Reminded me of a less black/more experimental version of Lifelover. Trip-hop definitely goes well with metal me thinks, needs moarz !

You're right. It's sort of my own definition of one-man band albums. The only thing that's really important is that there can't be more than 1 band member for these albums. When there's one or a few guest/session musicians, I can ignore that as the sole band member pretty much figured out everything himself, so he simply uses the other musicians to accomplish his goal. You can disagree with this, but I feel that it's not a very big deal. If I'd only include "real" one-man bands here then I'd have to remove a lot of these albums, which would mean getting rid of really great albums. As of now I don't feel like doing so. But if enough people disagree then I might just do that.
Ashamed to say that I still haven't checked out Joe's suggestion, but I definitely will check it out soon. Oh, and I'll check out Wigrid then. I'll let you know when I added the albums.

Just thought I'd come back to this list and recommend Zemial for you. Good Greek project, kinda like blackened thrash, but with a progressive atmosphere that makes things really epic and interesting too. Definitely worth checking out
