Neat list! No idea why I missed it before. Curious to see DT's Falling Into Infinity there as most people dislike it, but I'm not one of them

Wow, blast from the past! I haven't updated this in a good while, but thanks! Looking at it now most of these still get their fair share of listens, particularly the first 30 or so.

And I'll let you in on a secret, I prefer Falling Into Infinity over Images and Words! I'll never understand the dislike for that album.

Well, it was a difficult time when the label tried to made them write more commercial songs, which some turned out to be, and I guess that is why people dislike it.

But I still prefer Images And Words to FII but that's just me

I like Awaken the Guardian but even though they're important for prog metal I wouldn't call them a favourite. I also feel the same way about Queensryche, important but not what I really enjoy from the genre.

Awaken is sorta proggy but more power metal IMO. Give A Pleasant Shade Of Gray or Disconnected a try if you haven't already!

Here's a third person who adores FII! I don't have a problem with Theater's radio friendly tracks.

Great list, so many albums here which are also my prog favs. So, special thumbs up for Arena's 'Immortal', Pendragon's 'Pure', BT's 'The Devil's Hall of Fame' and of cours Ayreon's 'The Human Equation' in 1st spot, which is imo one of the best albums ever.

Thanks Starchild, pretty much any of these I can return to and enjoy at any time especially The Human Equation, music in general is rarely as good as it is on that album for me!

Haha, I think I singled myself out there with that one, risky move for sure! Images and Words is great, don't get me wrong, always enjoyed Falling Into Infinity more though.

I think most Dream Theater fans rather appreciate "controversial" opinions, like that one, so your head is not in danger

Its hard to picture a Dream Theater lynch mob. Though some prog metal puritans might get a bit huffy, with it being considered a classic of the genre and all.

Definetly. I consider "Images and Words" to be the best album of all time, but I always enjoy hearing other much more interesting opinions, such as "Falling to Infinity" (in some weird way) being better.
