Power Metal is a genre I've gotten into quite a bit over the past few years. I'd only really listened to Symphony X before, but discovered Blind Guardian, Wuthering Heights, Gamma Ray and others thanks to MS!
So here are my favourites of the genre with my rating, its sub-genre and release year:

Well I can't argue with your number 1 spot  Have you had a listen to last year's Sacred Outcry - Towers Of Gold? Not sure if it would make the list of all time greats but I'd still say it's one of the best power metal releases in the last few years.

Written by Redel on 12.02.2024 at 21:26 I've heard albums from all of these bands, Helloween's 'Walls of Jericho' is the only album I've given 9/10 so it could be added to this list once I've done song ratings for it. I'll be sure to add the others to the re-listen list though as it's been a while since I've heard them!
