Always thought of you as the big death metal guy with your love for Immolation, so I'm surprised to see Queensryche, King Diamond, Voivod, and Candlemass so high.

Definitely lots of great albums here - can't wait to see the final ranking

I'm definitely "the big death metal guy" but long before death metal existed, I was a 6th grader getting blown out a window by Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and the newly-solo artist Ozzy Osbourne.

yup. There are memories associated with some of those old albums from when I was a kid first hearing heavy metal that are tough to beat.

Actually, Voivod is very popular among extreme metal fans. Their dissonant riffage inspired many death metal bands' sound, same with their somewhat psychedelic technicality.

Bingo.
Look no further than Imperial Triumphant's forthcoming album (or bonus track on Alohaville) for an example
