Glad you liked them! I also wanted to suggest Transcending Bizarre?, a good avantgarde/symphonic black metal band, maybe you already know them. I especially like their songs "A New Saturn!" and "The Music Of The Spheres".

I'm most familiar with their "The Four Scissors" album but I can't believe it didn't occur to me to add them before, thanks for the suggestion! It's been a good while since I've listened to them, do you have a particular album in mind? I'd describe 4 Scissors as more of a symphonic sound more-so than spacey. I was thinking "The Misanthrope's Fable" perhaps? Bit more spacey that one, from what I remember.

Haha. I guess I noticed it because I know Ayreon albums better than most people on MS. Yeah, The Human Equation is about human experiences, emotions (though all Ayreon albums are) and relationships etc., but I still don't hear anything space-related when I listen to the album... it might have that spacey sound a bit, but that's as far as it goes in my opinion. That's what I think... and despite that I think it doesn't really belong in this list, it's an amazing album, so it definitely doesn't bring this list down.

And what the hell, I just thumbed up your list anyway, because I see a lot of great albums here. Do what you will with The Human Equation, but I still think it doesn't belong here.

I think its interesting how identifiable HAL is outside the context of the film. I must admit I've only seen it once, so you've given me an urge to watch it again, I expect I might be more impressed with it now than the 16 yr old me was. Oh and I'm far from a movie buff! Though when I see films either recent ones in the cinema or oldies I'll usually head for some sci-fi as a preference.

As for the music, I'll have a good listen through. I had it on my things to check list when I saw Nef's staff pick. Thanks for the suggestion, thematically it's perfect, so on the list it goes!

Hehe, I expected you to know it. I admit I've only seen it once as well many years ago (8 years or something, so I was 18), but I still was blown away by it. I might watch it again as well soon, simply because I'm curious if my opinion has changed after all these years. Actually I was a movie buff until I discovered I enjoy tv-series more than movies a few years ago, so I watch(ed) a ton of tv-series. And despite the fact that I like sci-fi movies a lot, it's far from my favourite genre. But I really like most genres when it comes to movies/tv-series, except for romantic (comedies), musicals (I love Sweeney Todd though, the one exception for me), mindless action movies (I dislike all those dumb movies with Van Damme, Seagal etc. in it, can't take them seriously), superhero movies (I only really like the whole Batman franchise and the first Spider-Man movie, but I can't enjoy any of the others) and Disney/Pixar films (well, I don't hate them, I just think they're extremely overrated most of the time and don't really care a lot about them). Anyway, I went on a bit too long about this I think (have a look at my profile to see my favourite movies/tv-series if you're interested). Glad you added the album.

I think first two Terminator movies are absolute classics and I think they're excellent (I like the second one more), but haven't had the urge to watch the third one and the fourth (Salvation) was just "okay", not even close to being great. So to answer your question: yes, definitely watchable for me. I also enjoy action movies to a certain degree, just not blockbuster action movies. My absolute favourite action movie is Heat. Simply a brilliant movie. Have a look at my top 40 movies (all the 10/10 movies I've seen, out of 1200+ titles) list at my profile if you're interested, then you'll see I enjoy almost every genre there is.

Hehe, I see what you mean. Well, in my opinion Heat is a must-see movie even if you're not into that kind of movies. For me it's pretty much perfect, but it's been a really long time since I saw it and I'm way more critical than I used to be, so I might disagree with myself here once I see it again. And yeah, I really like my own list too since there's a lot of variety to be found... basically anyone will find at least 1 movie on it that he/she likes, I think. House of Sand and Fog isn't exactly the best movie on the list, but it still impressed me immensely as it's very dramatic and emotional (in a heavy way, not romantic comedy emotional level) and Kingsley is indeed a great actor. The great thing for me about that movie is that you feel sympathy for Connelly as well as for Kingsley, and in the end it's pretty hard to pick a side (not that you have to...). Anyway, send me a PM to let me know what you think of it after you saw it.

Beat you to it, been listening to the stream on sputnikmusic. Amazing how anything Lindholm is in has that instantly recogniseable spacey sound. This one's really building up to be a great album judging from the first few listens.

How about Lunarsea - Hundred Light Years? I noticed this one in the shoutbox just now.

Anyway, I find your list to be very helpful in finding new space metal. It's nice you listed the genres because I don't enjoy all genres, so I can easily pick the ones I'd potentially like.

Although I do wonder why you haven't ranked them in a specific order.

Listing them according to genre is a pretty good idea I'd say. That way it's easier for people who are looking for specific genres.

Haha, alright then. Well, no hurry of course, but I was just listening to the album again and noticed it wasn't on this list, hence why I recommended it.
