This is my list of newly released Albums that I listened/will listen to in 2024. I hope that I have the motivation to finally complete it this year and not stop halfway through.
The records are presented in order of release date and I will rate them when I´m certain that I formed an opinion on them, though the ratings might change from time to time.
I hope this list might once again be inspiring to other users maybe some people will find some new music to listen to.
Let´s see if I have the motivation to finally complete it this year and not stop halfway through (no Really, I need to go back some day and finish the past years)

Serpentum - The Hilt Of Forking Tongues
6/10 Meh, nothing original to be seen here, but still a nice atmosphere. DSBM is a dying genre and I can see why. There is just so much you can do to stand out, and this band rather sticks to the standard sound. Not a bad start for 2025, but we will see what is to come.

The Halo Effect - March Of The Unheard
8.5 /10 Ooooh how much this reminds me of the early 2000s when so many classics were coming out of the melodeath department. Strong In Flames vibes just like the predeseccor, of course thanks to the almighty Jesper Strömblad. The lack of originality is made up by the beautiful guitarwork.

6.
Stick To Your Guns - Keep Planting Flowers
8/10 This just hits hard in the instrumental and lyrical department. I was never that much into this band, but they got me with this one. Very strong hardcore/metalcore release.

Cyanide Grenade - Cannibal Era
6/10 Nothing special, but solid thrash nonetheless. Everything sounds a bit uniform, which is to be expected. Definitely a good time!

Grave Digger - Bone Collector
5.5/10 The AI-cover perfectly encapsulates what the problem with this and the last few Grave Digger albums has been. This band is tired and has run out of ideas. A bad album by them is still a decent record, but I miss the days when they were experimenting at least a little bit and not rehash their sound and themes of former glory. The mix on this is also pretty bad.

12.
Hazzerd - The 3rd Dimension
7.5/10 Now this is some proper old school thrash in the vein of some of those crazy bands like Toxik and Forbidden. Amazing vocals and pretty good variety in the songs. Nothing screams AOTY-material, but I had a good time headbanging to this.

Killswitch Engage - This Consequence
7.5/10 Pretty solid release from one of the biggest metalcore bands. I got the feeling, that the creativity has dwindled a bit since the last record but the very short running time makes sure the album doesn't overstay its welcome. This still blows a lot of current metalcore albums out of the water, because of the nostalgic sound.

Architects - The Sky, The Earth & All Between
5.5/10 Nope guys...this is not it. While I had some hope hearing some of the singles, it is clear to me, that the old Architects is dead and this huge mainstream sound with straight chugging riffs is here to stay. Not my cup of tea apart from the opener, which is a step above everything else.

Whitechapel - Hymns In Dissonance
8/10 Yes, this fucks hard. As much as I enjoyed the detour into more progressive songwriting for the last two albums, this is a very welcoming change. Back to the roots of pure evil deathcore with a pissed off Phil Bozeman. I can't find any hit material in this bundle of songs, but hell, this will probably destroy you live.

Warbringer - Wrath And Ruin
8.5/10 Slaps, kills, destroys everything in its path. After seeing the guys live in Wacken this year, I was ready to buy this album and let it consume me. Amazing thrash of the highest regard.

Judicator - Concord
6.5/10 Sadly, this album doesn't do much for me. The last two albums were different and in their own regard very successful in their sound. This one is just uneventful and not well rounded enough.

Allegaeon - The Ossuary Lens
9/10 I think this is it. I can't imagine right now, how this can be beat as an AOTY for me. This band has evolved to become one of my favorites over the last few years and with the return of their original vocalist, they hit it out of the park again. I was very nervous, where this change would lead the band, but no worries here. Crazy riffing, just amazing drumwork and the vocals are absolutely my cup of tea. Not their best effort but definitely in the top 3.

LANDMVRKS - The Darkest Place I've Ever Been
8.5/10 I hold this album in very high regard, since it helped me through a hard period in my life this year. I can see why some might find the mix with the french rap parts off-putting, but the whole band captures the beauty and aggression of a fragile mental state very well. My metalcore highlight of the year so far.

Caliban - Back From Hell
7/10 You have to give these guys respect for being so consistent over their career. They are one of the oldest metalcore bands from Germany and after 15 albums, they still got it. While this may not be the most creative sound and its not packed with many memorable songs, the performances are extremely tight. The energy is still there. With 3 or 4 songs cut, this could have been pretty darn good.

Sodom - The Arsonist
6.5/10 After the return of Frank Blackfire, I was extremely happy with "Geneis XIX". Apart from others, I found it to be a nostalgic, solid thrash banger. This however sounds like b-sides of that album and sadly, the variety in between songs is pretty much gone. Not all is bad though. There are some sandout tracks here and the overall fastetr and shorter songs make this album more energetic. All in all, I'm still dissapointed.
