Now 100 albums on my to-do list...
This is going to take a while... but it'll most likely all be worth it! Already I'm enjoying the ones I've started with (Burnt Offerings, By Inheritance, Where Fear and Weapons Meet)

Damn that's a lot of great releases awaiting for you, I can already tell you're gonna have a blast.
Several of my personnal favorites are in here, most importantly Windir's Arntor. It's my favorite black metal release ever, and my former favorite was Storm Of The Light's Bane, so given your affinity with Dissection you might get the same connection with Arntor as I did, at least I hope you will!

I've just seen this list for the first time; this is a very useful idea you got with this! A lot of these albums on the list I know pretty well, I'm sure you will have a blast listening to those! As far as death metal goes, I wanted to recommend Vital Remains' album titled Dechristianize.

This list used to be a lot longer
I've been busy grinding through a ton of albums and rating them these last couple of weeks.
I've been adding the best songs that I come across to my "Greatest Metal Songs" list and the best albums (usually rated 9/10) to my Favorites list, even though I haven't given them descriptions yet. I'm probably (after listening to all of these albums here) going to change that list and really limit myself to a certain number of true favorites - at the moment it's full with ones that are great but I dont find myself revisiting much.
I'm also keeping track of every album that I've listened to so that I can at the end of the year release a list of the most-listened-to albums of 2022.
The recommendation is much appreciated - I remember seeing it in your list of favorites

I understand very much this process and the "cleaning up" you are referring to - adding new stuff and then removing that which you do not find yourself revisiting. I basically do the same thing. I edit my favorite albums and favorite song lists all the time. The only problem there is that I try to maintain a Spotify playlist with all my favorite tracks, and in the particular order they have on that list. It's such a pain but I really wanna have both updated.

Hey man, I thought I would have a look at this list again to see what you had put on your radar. Actually, looking at it now I'm not so familiar with a lot of these picks, but I wanted to share some insight on those that I know well and which I would highly recommend:
Hath - All That Was Promised - It really has a glorious punch sound, definitely one of those albums where production stood out to me. Also very interesting, not-so-common harmonies. In general one of my favorites of the current year.
Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea - D O O O O O O O O O M. Goddam awesome. Just takes a bit of patience, by the nature of it being funeral doom.
Windir - 1184 - This took me some time before I got really into it, but it's been extremely enjoyable since. As far as 21st century viking stuff goes, this album is some of the best (alongside Enslaved which I am also seeing on the list).
Insomnium - Winter's Gate - It has a surprisingly high amount of soft moments, but because both the heavy and soft ones are so fantastically crafted, they empower each other.

Thanks for reminding me to return to this list. I've been kind of veering off my plans.
I did check out Ahab recently - and am listening to it right now in fact! Yeah, funeral doom takes a lot of patience, but I'm liking it more and more: the melody on "The Pacific" is nicely eerie
I'll have to check out the others and let you know what I think.

Yeah I'm not voting that often on albums anymore since I find it harder and harder to associate an album's value entirely with a single number. That's why all of my reviews lately are also without rating. These "Currently Enjoying" or "Currently Listening" lists are meant to record albums that I've listened to and enjoyed, replacing a list of album votes in a way.

Holy.. Well to my taste, you should tackle these, because they are some of my favourites from this list.
1. Kylesa - Spiral Shadow
2. Black Tusk - Taste The Sin
3. Cautiva - Human
4. Anacrusis - Screams And Whispers
5. Cult Of Luna - A Dawn To Fear
6. Demolition Hammer - Epidemic Of Violence
There would be others in there but thats a good start and some excellent albums IMO.

Bro you have some truly great stuff sitting in that list, my picks would be:
1. Albino Slug - Barabbas (because you liked the debut and I'm still the only vote on this EP)
2. Arkheth - 12 Winter Moons Comes The Witches Brew (I am simply in love with this album)
3. Urfaust - Geist Ist Teufel (or the compilation Ritual Music For The True Clochard, which isn't in your list but captures the band and their atmosphere perfectly)
4. Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors (one of my gateways into weirdo metal and I still love it to this day)
5. Esoteric - Metamorphogenesis (because you clearly need to give them a second chance and this album is great for that)
6. Verdunkeln - Einblick In Den Qualenfall (just an all around great album)
7. Encenathrakh - Ithate Thngth Oceate (I'm not even sure I'd recommend this album to anyone but it's awesome if you're mentally prepared for it)
8. Maudlin Of The Well - Bath (I'm not the biggest MotW fan anymore but this album was a cornerstone of my metal journey and there's a lot to love about it)
I could make a list twice as long as this one but I think those are good picks for what to listen to in priority
