Surprised Number of the Beast didn't make the cut.

It almost did until I relistened to it and realised it contains some of best their songs (Run to the Hills, Number of the Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name). Most of the other songs are fillers for sure, but the overall quality of the album warrants a 9/10 IMO.

Interesting list. I agree with some (Countdown to Extinction, Piece of Mind, Leprosy). But I don't agree that the following are overrated:
At the Heart of Winter
The Legacy
Hall of the Mountain King
Screaming for Vengeance (even though I agree that Painkiller is better)

See, I'm a big Testament fan, but I struggled to enjoy The Legacy as much as everyone else. At The Heart of Winter has some good moments, but I just found it a bit monotonous overall to warrant a 9. The other two I haven't listened to as much, but I remember not being overly impressed on first listen. Maybe I'll try them again soon...

You really need to listen to Hall of the Mountain King and Screaming for Vengeance. I'm sorry, but how can you not be impressed when the latter album starts off with The Hellion? That's like one of the best album openers of all time!

You really need to listen to Hall of the Mountain King and Screaming for Vengeance. I'm sorry, but how can you not be impressed when the latter album starts off with The Hellion? That's like one of the best album openers of all time!

I'll check them out again. Hopefully I'll be more impressed the second time round!

Actually, after listening to Leprosy again, I say it's not overrated. It's actually really good... the vocals are more brutal than on Human

I love The Hellion and how it transitions into Electric Eye. However, I don't think the album has much going for it apart from those two tracks. If I see Screaming For Vengeance I think mostly about annoying tracks like "You've Got Another Thing Coming".

I agree that You've Got Another Thing Coming is overrated. But the rest is great (in my opinion)! Riding on the Wind, (Take These) Chains, Devil's Child, and the title track are all catchy! In addition, Pain and Pleasure is groovy and Fever is very underrated - it goes through so many different phases. (I might be a bit biased since Screaming For Vengeance was my introduction to heavy metal. But even though I like Painkiller and Defenders of the Faith even more, Screaming will stay a classic for me!)

Most of those songs don't really do much for me, apart from maybe the title track. I also prefer Defenders and Painkiller, but the 70's albums are Priest's golden age for me.

Coincidentally, I think The Hellion/Electric Eye might have been my introduction to "classic" heavy metal. It definitely made an impression. Only years later did I listen to the rest of the album and I was completely underwhelmed (which I didn't dare admit at first, hahaha).

For each album I wanted to suggest an album I think is better from the same artist/band but wasn't sure what to put for the ones that didn't have a better album so just put that as a filler. Think I might remove it as none of these albums are bad by any means!

How dare you! Love that song. Agree the album as a whole is a bit patchy. "Electric Eye", "Bloodstone", "Devil's Child" and maybe the title track the only other tracks I go back to really.

I will say I too find it an odd list. Just because some of these albums might not be the 'best' by each band - though some of them surely are - it's not like people are wasting their time listening to most of them. Certainly seems daft to recommend binning off Stained Class, Screaming, Iron Maiden and Piece Of Mind entirely just because Painkiller and Seventh Son are better. Which is debatable anyway.

I like (in a 9-10 way) one or two albums on this list.
The rest is pretty much overrated, yup.

I like roka hasa radio a lot. Especially the first two songs. Also Mayhem's de mysteriis is an all time fav because Attila.
And I think that's about it. Unless I missed something while scrolling.

And I think that's about it. Unless I missed something while scrolling.

I'll make a note to relisten to those two again. I struggled with Mayhem, it has great atmosphere but I just didn't find it that enjoyable. Hopefully a second spin will be the key...

I only like 4 of the 8 songs, so to me it's very over rated.

Not gonna lie, I was ready for a butthurt from my side, but that King Crimson album hit me right in the heart.
Now for the list itself... its pretty accurate, a lot of overrated stuff here and there. Both Septicflesh and Be'lakor being in top 10 death metal of all time is the funniest thing I saw on this site yet.

Man, Children of the Damned, The Prisoner and 22 Acacia Avenue are definitely not fillers! You just can say Gangland and maybe Invaders.

Can't say I'm a fan of 22 Acacia Avenue, but I've relistened to the album again recently and Children of the Damned, The Prisoner and Invaders are better than I remember. 9.2/10 overall for me, their 3rd best in my list.

Man I disagree with 80% of this list lol. Even though I myself gave some of those 8's and 7's I can't bring myself to call them overrated... They're simply not, a lot of those are Iconic and genre defining in some cases.

Also how dare you put Defiant Imagination, Violent Restitution, Fire Of Unknown Origin, Keeper Part I and II, Metal Church, Bonded By Blood, Leviathan, Piece of m... Wait there's way too many of my favourites in there! ...You just wanna make us mad putting off classics, don't ya?
