A List Of Great Debut Albums

A lot of bands have great debut albums. Obviously this list is just a fraction of all the great debut albums out there, but it's a start. I'll keep expanding this list continuously, so all suggestions are welcome (granted they are featured on MS). All the albums here are ranked according to genre and then alphabetically. If a certain album belongs to the (in your opinion) wrong genre, then definitely let me know.
When searching albums of a certain genre, just press "Ctrl + F" and then enter the genre you're looking for. For example, when looking for death metal albums, simply enter "[death]" after you pressed "Ctrl + F" and you'll be at the right place in no time, so it works perfectly.

Written by Guib on 19.01.2013 at 20:33 I'm definitely no thrash fan.  However (!), I recently found out I like it more than I thought, hence why there's a few thrash albums in this list. The main genres in this list will probably always remain (death/)doom, gothic and black, but I do like to put the greatest albums of thrash, progressive and death metal in the list. The only genres you'll never see here are power and alternative/nu-metal, because I don't like those at all.Thanks for the suggestion though.

I won't go through them all but there's a few

Written by Alex F on 19.01.2013 at 21:38 Someone here told me Amorphis' debut isn't worthy, so I didn't check it out. I have yet to listen to the others you mentioned. I listened to Diablo Swing Orchestra but I didn't like it... too cheery for my taste. I might give it a second chance though.

Mournful Congregation - Monad Of Creation isn't actually their debut, that would be Tears from a Grieving Heart even though they self released that

I was definitely impressed and it didn't seem like traditional funeral doom at all (though I admit I don't know a lot about that subgenre), with even folkish tunes? All in all, it did appeal to me, but it's not the kind of album that can be judged easily. Any other essentials for this list? I think I shouldn't have asked that to you though.

You should know by now I dislike power metal (yeah I know, I have Wintersun on this list, but they are an exception).
