Well, I just added Ahab. Thergothon was already on my list, but the others aren't (yet). I don't think I'm too fond of drone, but I'm not sure.

Rosetta - The Galilean Satellites

The album that started it all for them. A masterpiece.

Rosetta, huh? Like drone, I'm pretty unfamiliar with sludge as well. Should I listen to both discs synchronized or seperately?

Never have heard of Eternal Nightmare, but I'll check it out. I believe a few people (including Nosurper) suggested Cynic - Focus, but I didn't really like it all that much (just listened to it). Also don't understand why people go on about The Butcher's Ballroom... That's just too over-the-top for me, couldn't even finish listening to the album.

Together. Post/sludge metal isn't for everyone. Promise me you will listen to the album front to back. Don't give up on it. The whole thing is epic. Lemme know what you think if you do it.

Okay, I promise I'll listen to the whoie thing together. It's still weird though... never heard of that being possible before. If I like it I'll add it along with 4 other albums, which will make it a top 100. I listen to about 5 new albums per week (sometimes longer), so expect the update next week.

I added both, as you might've expected. Decapitated isn't exactly my kind of thing, but I still like technical death metal a few times a week. DSO's debut was a lot better when I re-listened it. Still don't like the female vocals a lot, since they remind me of Nightwish, but their style sounds very original and overall definitely nice music to listen to.

I'll definitely listen to Decapitated again. I only want to listen to the best of the best some genres have to offer (those genres being thrash and death metal mainly). And DSO and Nightwish are completely different bands, but the vocals still remind me of Nightwish.

Regarding Nightwish, I liked Tarja a lot back then. When I saw them live in 2008 (in Antwerpen) Anette just joined them and she DID suck big time... her voice was just awful.

Anette Olzon however is just plain awful live... maybe she improved or something, but that live show made me lose interest in the band completely (along with the disappointing album called Dark Passion Play).

Don't worry about it. If you're curious, check out Oceanborn (their best in my opinion), but since it's the genre you don't like at all (symphonic), I doubt it's the right music for you...

But this is a list for debuts, not sophomore albums. Their debut is quite superior to their second album so you should still check it out.

I happened to find something that may be to your liking. If you liked Ixion, then I guess you'll find THIS to your liking as well.
Personally, I think they're even better.

I added both of them. And holy shit, Thergothon is slow even for funeral doom.

I already added Virgin Black's debut a while ago though. I actually liked it more than their second album, so I agree about that. However, their fourth album might be even better to me, although that could change after more listens. By the way, I obviously know this list is just for debuts... But ANGEL REAPER recommended me two albums that weren't even debuts, which I don't understand at all since it's pretty obvious this list is solely for full-length studio albums, not EP's or demo's or anything else.

I listened to a couple of songs from Sadael and I really like it. Although I have to disappoint you, because I'll only add bands that are featured on MetalStorm, sorry. But thanks anyway for recommending me this band.

Good list. I'd add Ensiferum myself, but the list is already very long.
