A List Of Great Debut Albums
A lot of bands have great debut albums. Obviously this list is just a fraction of all the great debut albums out there, but it's a start. I'll keep expanding this list continuously, so all suggestions are welcome (granted they are featured on MS). All the albums here are ranked according to genre and then alphabetically. If a certain album belongs to the (in your opinion) wrong genre, then definitely let me know.
When searching albums of a certain genre, just press "Ctrl + F" and then enter the genre you're looking for. For example, when looking for death metal albums, simply enter "[death]" after you pressed "Ctrl + F" and you'll be at the right place in no time, so it works perfectly.

I agree with some albums, but I think there's still some names left: Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Helloween, The Sword, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and more but at least these should be essential.. Still it's a good list.

I might listen to the albums you mentioned though. I own Black Sabbath's debut but I didn't like it enough for it to be on this list, although I have to admit I only listened to it twice.

And yeah, I don't really like all the suggestions so I'm not going to add those, haha (for example, I listened to Diablo Swing Orchestra since a few people suggested that album, but I didn't like it after one listen, but I might give them a second chance). I'm discovering a shit load of new bands lately, so that's a good thing at least.

I hate to say it, but I think I'm beginning to like thrash, which I didn't think was possible. Also added Black Sabbath, as I liked it a lot more once I listened to it again after all this time. I'll check the others out too, soon.

Listening to an album once is enough for me to decide whether it's worthy for the list (most of the time) or not, but I need to listen 3-5 times to an album to rate it. Eventually all the albums on this list will be rated of course. But I don't know if anyone really pays attention to the ratings, but I just added them because some albums are way better than others in my opinion (as the minimum rating is a 7.5/10).

Unlock the Shrine is one of the best debuts ever... also one of the best albums ever. So that's a good add.

Definitely approve Nosurper's idea of Godflesh - Streetcleaner Lurker of Chalice - Lurker of Chalice One being the monolith of industrial metal to me and the second one being some of the eeriest ambient black metal around.

I'm not sure what to think about Godflesh, so I'll give it at least one more spin. Both of those cannot be judged easily, that's for sure. By the way, Lurker Of Chalice reminded me of "Unlock The Shrine".

If you're a thrash fan you should consider putting this album: Witheria - Infernal Maze fucking insane debut. The whole album is great.
